About Abe Traven
Abe is the longest standing employee at Boise Gear Collective and the resident gear expert. In addition, he is responsible for all the funny tags in the shop (but not the un-funny ones). He loves vintage and retro clothing and gear, and collects cool hats and Pendleton shirts (which he luckily finds in the store all the time!)
Abe moved to Boise from Moab, Utah 8 years ago. He has worked as an AMGA Climbing Guide for Red River Adventures in Utah, and does some guiding for Idaho Mountain Guides. Climbing has been his main passion for the past decade, and he has climbed all over the world in places like China, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, and Laos.
Abe also is an avid bikepacker, and can be found riding his Surly Krampus to assorted hot springs and campsites in the mountains. On the water, Abe has worked as a raft guide, and has a decent combat roll. He also considers himself a bad skier too, but does it anyway.
His current upcoming goals and plans include climbing The Direct Beckey Route on Elephant’s Perch, a return trip to China, and climbing trip to Greece, numerous local climbing trips in his new Astro van, and possibly a bikepacking trip down the Baja Peninsula in January.
